Galatasaray is the most successful Turkish club in European competitions. Internationally, the club made history by winning the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2000, becoming the first and only Turkish team to claim a major UEFA title. In the 1999–2000 season, Galatasaray accomplished a rare treble, securing the Süper Lig, the Turkish Cup, and the UEFA Cup in a single year. Although the club has reached the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals multiple times and once made it to the semi-finals, it has yet to win the prestigious trophy. Galatasaray is also the only Turkish club to top the IFFHS World Rankings. According to the same organization, it is recognized as the best Turkish club of the 20th century and the 20th most successful club in Europe. Additionally, Galatasaray ranks as the 11th most participated team in the Champions League, the 18th team with the most matches played, and the 24th in terms of accumulated points.
