Suspect arrested in connection to death of Kansas City reporter in New Orleans for Super Bowl

 

KENNER, La. (WVUE) - A suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of a Kansas City reporter who was in New Orleans covering the Super Bowl.

Telemundo KC confirmed on Thursday, Feb. 6, that 27-year-old Adan Manzano, an anchor and reporter, passed away while on assignment in New Orleans.

On the morning of Friday, Feb. 7, Kenner police revealed that Danette Colbert, from Slidell, was arrested after investigators discovered she had been using Manzano’s credit card at multiple stores in the New Orleans area.


Investigators have reviewed security footage that shows Colbert with Manzano on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 5. The video also shows Colbert leaving Manzano’s hotel room later that same morning.

Police discovered Manzano unresponsive in his hotel room in Kenner.

Currently, Colbert has only been booked on property crimes, including fraud and theft-related offenses. According to police, she has an arrest record that includes accusations of drugging men, stealing cash, fraudulent use of credit and debit cards, and other financial crimes.
