Mudashiru Obasa was accused of several statutory and financial violations. As a result, he was replaced by his deputy, Lasbat Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 1 and is also a former Chief Whip of the House.

The removal followed a report by The Gazette, which highlighted Mr. Obasa's involvement in the withdrawal of N43.5 billion for backup vehicles for lawmakers, among other controversial actions.

Sources from Peoples Gazette revealed that Mr. Obasa was in Atlanta at the time of his impeachment.
