Palisades fire

 Firefighters are bracing for a challenging and perilous night as they battle the Palisades fire, with powerful winds expected to intensify, potentially complicating aerial firefighting efforts.


The fire, which began at Piedra Morada Drive around 10:30 a.m., has already consumed 2,921 acres by early evening, fueled by strong wind gusts. More than 30,000 residents have been forced to evacuate. The intense wind event sweeping through Southern California is forecast to peak between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday, making overnight firefighting efforts even more difficult as the blaze continues to grow.

Firefighters were working to control a rapidly spreading fire that ignited Tuesday morning along Piedra Morada Drive in Pacific Palisades. By evening, the fire had expanded to over 2,900 acres.


The blaze, which began around 10:30 a.m., caused significant damage to several homes and prompted evacuations for thousands of residents. Some individuals were forced to abandon their vehicles on the side of the road while fleeing. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
