Winter Storm Blair has triggered blizzard and winter storm warnings for millions, with heavy snow and ice spreading from the Plains to the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic through Monday. Travel disruptions are expected across several states, and ice accumulation could cause significant tree damage and power outages.

The storm is currently moving snow and ice across the Plains and parts of the Ohio Valley, as shown in the radar image below. Early Sunday, central Kansas, including Wichita, experienced thunderstorms along with a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow.
Winter storm warnings are in effect for parts of the Central Plains, including the Kansas City metro area, Wichita, and Topeka, Kansas. Strong winds and blowing or falling snow will cause whiteout conditions and reduced visibility, lasting through early Monday.
Additionally, winter storm warnings for snow and/or ice extend from the mid-Mississippi and Ohio valleys to the mid-Atlantic, covering cities such as Baltimore, Cincinnati, Louisville (KY), St. Louis, and Washington, D.C.
Travel should be avoided in these areas until the storm passes.
- Sunday-Sunday Night: Snow, potentially heavy at times, will stretch from Kansas to West Virginia during the day. Parts of the Central Plains may experience near-blizzard conditions. A wintry mess of sleet, freezing and snow is expected just south of the area of heaviest snowfall, from northeast Oklahoma and southeast Kansas to parts of the mid-Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley and Appalachians.
- Wind gusts may reach 50 mph at times in parts of the Central Plains, leading to reduced visibility and blizzard conditions.
