Walker began his career at his childhood club, Sheffield United, joining at the age of seven. He made his first-team debut at 18 following a loan spell at Northampton Town, where his performances earned him recognition. He featured in the 2009 Championship play-off final, and his strong showing led to a move to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. He was immediately loaned back to Sheffield United, then had further loan stints at Queens Park Rangers and Aston Villa. Eventually, Walker secured a regular spot in Tottenham’s first team and played a key role in the team’s successes under Mauricio Pochettino, including finishing as runners-up in the 2016–17 Premier League and the 2014–15 League Cup.
