Founded in 1882, Tottenham Hotspur's emblem features a cockerel standing on a football, accompanied by the Latin motto Audere est Facere ("to dare is to do"). Since the 1898–99 season, the club has traditionally worn white shirts and navy blue shorts as their home kit. Their training ground is located at Hotspur Way in Bulls Cross, Enfield. Tottenham's first major success came in 1901 when they won the FA Cup, becoming the only non-League club to do so since the Football League's formation in 1888. In the 1960–61 season, they became the first club in the 20th century to achieve the League and FA Cup Double. After defending the FA Cup in 1962, Tottenham made history in 1963 as the first British club to win a UEFA club competition, claiming the European Cup Winners' Cup. They also won the inaugural UEFA Cup in 1972.

They were the first British club to win two different major European trophies. Tottenham also secured at least one major trophy in each of the six decades from the 1950s to the 2000s, a feat only matched by Manchester United.

In domestic football, Tottenham Hotspur has won two league titles, eight FA Cups, four League Cups, and seven FA Community Shields. In European competition, they have claimed one European Cup Winners' Cup and two UEFA Cups. Tottenham were also runners-up in the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League. The club has a fierce rivalry with nearby Arsenal, with whom they contest the North London derby. Owned by the ENIC Group since 2001, Tottenham was valued at £2.6 billion ($3.2 billion) in 2024. In 2023, they were the eighth-highest-earning football club globally, with an annual revenue of £549.2 million.
